I touched on what a master of this art Mira is in my review of "Moments of
Transition" But I'd like to get some feedback from her fans outside the
North American continent on this subject as well. So I'm reviewing my
tapes from Season Three and before and picking out what I feel are some of
the interesting examples.
I've started with a scene from "And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place",
because it struck me so vividly at the time that I made a note regarding
it `Be aware of how close they sit at dinner'. In truth it's not that they
are sitting that close, it's the way Mira is positioned in relation to
Bruce and the angle of the table. She's cambered in towards him and
twisted slightly in his direction. her posture directs your eyes from her
to him, he's the center of her universe. It's impossible to miss that
Delenn is in love with her Captain.
There is a line in the scene about the people back home thinking they're
"working with aliens to subvert earth.", which clearly makes Delenn
uncomfortable. Her eyes blink a number of times and then she lowers them
to look at her hands. The gesture speaks volumes.
Mira has no lines in this scene, but expresses as much, if not more than
the actors who have the dialogue.
