I confess. I drove to Atlanta this weekend to see Mira.
I'm standing in the autograph line saying a couple of words to Jeffrey
Willerth (Kosh) and I glance over at Mira and she flashes me that
smile (the one guaranteed to melt all hearts and most minds) and she
says "Hello again, how are you?" I know from the way she says it that
she recognizes me, which both amazes and delights me.
"I'm fine," I said, "how are you?"
"You drove to Dallas" it's as much statement as question. I nod.
"You're not from here?" again it's as much statement as question,
she's putting the pieces together.
"No." I respond. "Toronto, Canada"
"I saw you somewhere else"
"Baltimore"
"Yes."
We get into whether or not B5 is being shown in Canada and the
posibility of my turning up other places. She keeps asking questions,
the only polite thing to do is answer them. I'm doomed, I'm never
going to be able to ask her anything, she's always one question ahead
of me.
I suddenly realize that the line behind me is no longer staring
daggers at me, but looking over my shoulder at Jerry Doyle. I look at
him and he's doing a move it along gesture, which turns into that
yapping mouth hand signal.
"Yack, yack, yack, yack, yack" he says.
I take the hint and move on. "yeah well," I say to him, "when you
drive 950 miles to be somewhere....."
"You drove 950 miles to be here?!" Jerry asks.
Tracey's eyes widen. I nod.
"From where?"
"Toronto, Canada."
"I really like Toronto." Jerry says.
Her eyes? What colour are Mira's eyes? Why are you asking me?
