Since ZonCon has pulled the announcement from their website - I can
only imagine that they were asked to do so. In which case I'm
seriously bummed if the news got out before Mira wanted it to.
I've basically "known" since I saw her in Columbus, call it a
premonition, call it a hunch, call it woman's intuition, but I "knew".
Smiled quietly and kept it to myself. Then a couple of weeks ago I
heard some rumours out of Wolf in London. That was when I started
biting my tongue, so to speak. I didn't hear about the rumours that
were running rife at Fantasticon until later.
When the message turned up in the John and Delenn Forum, from the
president of Mira's fan club that there was a major announcement
coming concerning Mira so to watch the web very very closely (which
implied to me that it wasn't going to be in an obvious place like
Brigitte's page) and that because of this announcement there was a
possibility that Mira *might* not be at ZonCon. I figured the
announcement would be coming shortly. I did e-mail ZonCon to ask if
they knew what was happening about her attendance, as I needed to get
the money in to them before September 1st.
ZonCon got back to me and basically told me that she would definitely
not be there, and that yes they knew what was going on and that they
were not at liberty to disclose what was going on. Which I felt was
fair, particularly as I'd only wanted a definite yea or nay about her
attendance. About half an hour later a message appeared in the John
and Delenn Forum wondering about Mira's pregnancy and had anyone seen
the announcement on the ZonCon site? I surfed by, had a look at it,
and downloaded it to my harddrive (okay, yeah, I'm a sentimental
fool). I figured that in the elapsed time since I'd received the
message from them, that they had spoken to someone who had given them
the authority to let everyone know the why of her non-attendance, and
that this was the announcement we'd been warned to look so carefully
for. Then with great joy and tears streaming down my face ran off to
spread the joy.
So if ZonCon's little slip up caused me to release the news into
usenet prematurely, I can only apologize to Mira - I guess I'll know
if she's still speaking to me when I see her at VOR :(. <sigh>
Yeah I'm going, no I'm not driving :)
